Oakmead College of Technology
Welcome to Oakmead College of Technology, a specialist secondary school situated on the north-west edge of the borough of Bournemouth.
The College caters for some 1280 students from the local community and from wider a field, and includes a successful and growing Sixth Form.
We offer a fully personalised curriculum covering a wide range of vocational and academic courses. The college has also developed a high reputation for its close links with local industry and commerce and has won several awards for this work.
Oakmead is very well equipped with an excellent range of practical facilities. Science, Design & Technology, Art, Drama and Sixth Form facilities have all been greatly improved and extended in recent years, and there are comprehensive ICT facilities. An ongoing programme of refurbishment is ensuring that students and staff are able to work in pleasant and comfortable surroundings.

Our aim is to encourage all students, whatever their ability, to have confidence and independence in their learning, and to ultimately equip them to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly-changing world. Our Technology College status puts an emphasis on technology as a tool to develop 21st Century learners, with the skills and attributes to enable them to deal with and contribute to an ever more complex world.
We are extremely proud of the fine links which have been developed with our main feeder schools. Every effort is made on both sides to maintain close curriculum links to enable our students to transfer with the least-possible difficulty as a basis for a successful secondary education.
We also believe that a student will gain maximum benefit from education where there is a genuine partnership between the student, the family and the college, and where there is regular participation in the life of the wider community. We are a full service extended school and aim to be an integral part of the local community, contributing to and bringing it in to the life of the college.We welcome visits to the school to see its effective organisation in practice, and value regular communication with parents.
